About Brandon Myers

The "Rambling Gamer," Brandon has been playing video games since 1988. From the NES to the PS4, he's played almost every major console. While he favors consoles, he's dabbled in PC gaming, and is an avid Linux user. Every Wednesday, he posts his latest Ramblings, which usually consist of video game reviews, best/worst lists, and on occasion a good old-fashioned rant.

Ramblings – Crunchyroll

Hey everybody!  Welcome back!  It’s that time of the week again.  Time for me to ramble.  This week on Ramblings, I’d like to take a look at my new favorite website, Crunchyroll.  Many of you may already know of Crunchyroll, but there are probably quite a few of you out there who haven’t.  It’s a legal streaming website for anime and live-action Japanese drama, as well as some manga.  I had known about it for a couple years now, thanks to its presence in the PlayStation Store, but I never gave it a serious look until last month because I’ve never been really big into anime.  That said, how does Crunchyroll fare for an anime novice like myself? Ramblings – The Belmonts

Hey guys, welcome back!  I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about this week, but then late Saturday night I decided to check out the website of The Megas.  Now, if you’re a longtime reader of my column, you know I discussed The Megas before.  They’re a group that did lyrical covers of Mega Man music.  Normally I don’t like it when people put lyrics to instrumental video game music, but The Megas did it so damn well that I just love their three major albums.  But now they’re branching out into Castlevania music with their newest album, The Belmonts.  Only three tracks are on the album, and it’s no doubt a teaser to a larger project.  So how is this new excursion of theirs?  Let’s find out. Ramblings – September 7th, 2016 Update

Hey guys, welcome back!  It’s Ramblings time.  A little late today, I know.  I also apologize for the two week absence.  I hope to explain all that in this week’s update.  I had hoped to do something other than another “Updates” column, but circumstances worked against me.  Sorry all.  But let’s get on with the updates. Ramblings – Overwatch – Summer Games Update

Hey guys.  I didn’t want to keep missing weeks, so I wanted to do a quick column on Overwatch’s Summer Games update which was sent out yesterday.  But first, a bit of housekeeping.  As I mentioned on my Twitter, I won’t be doing No Man’s Sky like I previously planned.  No, it isn’t because of the leaks, but rather because I just don’t like controlling space craft in video games.  I don’t know why I allowed myself to get hyped by No Man’s Sky, when most of the game is flying through space.  But I did, and I’m glad I came to my senses before the game came out.

So now GameFly sent me the Mega Man Legacy Collection for PS4, so I’ll be giving that a go hopefully next week.  LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens may be after that.  I don’t know for sure.  No idea how much space ship battles are in that one.  The trailer for the game on GameFly shows some space ship battles, and that worries me.  But I liked the first LEGO Star Wars game, and I have high hopes for the latest one.

Anyway, Overwatch. More

Ramblings – July 20, 2016 Update

Hey guys, I’m back!  Sorry for the two week absence.  I’ve been dealing with some personal issues that have gotten worse over the past several weeks and I’m trying to get that stuff sorted out, but I didn’t want to go the whole month without something.  I hate to do another Ramblings Update post, but I don’t have any other ideas at the moment.  Some stuff I’m going to talk about will be new, though, so there’s that, at least.  Let’s get on with it. Ramblings – Mighty No. 9

Hey guys, welcome back!  Last week Mighty No. 9 was finally released.  Almost three years in development and three delays, it’s finally here.  I was a backer of the Kickstarter, and I covered the backer-only trial last September.  Now I have the final game on the PS4, and I played through the main story mode.  Was it worth the wait? Ramblings – Best of E3 2016

Hey guys.  I know I was supposed to review Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst this week.  Well, I got the game from Gamefly, I played it a bit, and I just didn’t feel like playing it any more.  It just didn’t click with me.  I can’t put my finger on it, but I really have nothing good or bad to say about it.  It’s just, meh.  So instead, I thought I’d write out my top ten games of E3 2016.  A list of the games that were either announced or shown in press conferences or on gaming media sites during the event that have me really anticipating them.  So without further ado, onto the games.
