I dream of someday starting my own fan convention. It would probably be Transformers related, maybe expanded into other related properties, but definitely something others would kill to check out. But until then, the wise thing to do is to go to a few different cons, take a few lessons from them, and then plan for my eventual con well. I have gone to a few smaller cons, mostly recently Who’s Yer Con (WYC) in my home state, and from these I have learned a few things to share with my audience, in hopes that you too get the inspiration to start your own fan cons and, maybe, invite a penguin to join you gratis.
This week on Pop Culture Curmudguin, I’m doing the prototype of future articles where I watch popular movies that I have never seen before, and make snarky comments while watching them, followed by a summary. We start off with Batman Begins, the first in the trilogy of Christopher Nolan Batman movies, of which I have seen none of the trilogy. How good is it? Well, it has no penguins, so already it sounds worse than Batman Returns, but we shall see.
Everybody was all excited about the deal that Sony Pictures and Disney brokered, which allowed Spider-man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are promises for more movies with Peter, and that is nice, but not great. Here’s the reason it is not great…
Spider-man is built for TV series, not movies…
…and that debut should be on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I used to enjoy watching wrestling, becoming a fan after seeing the British Bulldogs prior to Wrestlemania 2. But nowadays I just can’t manage to give a damn about WWE and Wrestlemania. Just last June I was still trying to watch it every Monday; now I haven’t bothered to watch a single moment of RAW from my DVR the past two weeks, deleting it before watching it. Why this malaise?
There are some movies that everyone seems to assume that everyone has watched. However, for some reason, there are movies I should have already watched but yet I haven’t. I remember absolutely flabbergasting my girlfriend at the time when she kept naming movies that every rolegamer should have seen, and yet I hadn’t. I plan to start a series of articles where I “live blog” my thoughts while watching movies for the first time, but for now I am making a Top 10 list of films I have seen that would shock people I have never watched.
WARNING: Do not drink anything when reading the number one entry, unless you are going for the Guinness World Record for spraying liquid out of your nose.
Another month, another PPV. Welcome to my official blog for WWE’s 2015 Fastlane. WIll Daniel Bryan manage to convince Vinnie Mac to let him win the title at Wrstlemania by letting him beat Roman Reigns tonight? We will soon find out. Updates will be made throughout the show.
This is your official penguin blog for the 2015 WWE Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble has long been my favorite sporting event of the year, WWE or not. So it’s time to see who gets to pose with a big-ass sign up high for the next 2 months, as well as see if we get to purge the contents of our stomachs over Cena tying Ric Flair’s number of world titles.
A little TLC, from you to me. A little TLC, tender loving care…
Sorry, an obscure song from an obscure NBC Saturday morning cartoon from the 80’s.
Anyways, since my Survivor Series Blog went over so well, let’s continue on with this blog dedicated to the 2014 WWE TLC event. This blog will be updated throughout the show.
Welcome to Superfriends Universe.com exclusive blog regarding the 2014 Survivor Series. I, the Pop Culture Curmudguin, will be giving you my take of this PPV. I haven’t bother to watch one since July, even thro I have been subscribed to the WWE Network, so lets see if WWE has improved. Continue to check back throughout the night for my thoughts.
It was said by some that few years had as many great films as the year 1989. As it has been 25 years since then, I figured I would go back and rate my top 10 films of that year. I only rated films that I personally saw. Take these as being PG, with PG meaning “Penguin’s Guidance”.
