Former 1990s WWF and WCW Superstar El Gigante / Giant Gonzales Passes Away

Lords Of Pain is reporting that former basketball player turned professional wrestler Giant Gonzales passed away on Wednesday in San Martin, Argentina. Gigante will be most remembered for his run in the early 90s with WCW and then the WWF, where he feuded with the Undertaker for the majority of his career, peaking with a match at Wrestlemania IX in Las Vegas, billed as allegedly being 8 feet tall and wearing a padded bodysuit when he worked. He was 44.

After his run in WWF, he had a short stint in New Japan Pro Wrestling until he retired in 1995. He’d been suffering from poor health for years and his height did not help matters. We send our condolences to the family of Jorge Gonzalez.
